What to Expect
It is time to relax. The friendly and professional massage therapists at Serenity are committed to providing a calm, stress-free experience for you. Here is what you can expect:
-
Meet and Greet: You will be met by one of our friendly therapists who will ask you to fill out a brief consultation form. This involves a review of symptoms, medical history, injuries or physical condition and lifestyle as well as a discussion about what you would like to achieve from the massage treatment. A postural assessment and/or range of motion test may be completed to help get a starting point and help assess any restrictions that may be present. You will be fully informed on how these work at the time. This information is confidential and is designed to help the therapist understand your physical condition and so guide the direction of the massage. Therapeutic needs vary from person to person and from day to day. Our therapists use a combination of methods based on your needs. The therapist will discuss with you some possible goals for your session after reviewing information given, including specific areas that you would like to address during your massage. We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes early for your appointment to complete these forms.
-
Getting prepared: Your massage session is in a serene, private room. Your therapist will give you instructions on how to lie on the table (e.g. face down or face up) and to lay underneath the top sheet. Your therapist will leave the room to allow you to undress. We ask that you keep your underpants on. For your comfort, you will be appropriately draped throughout the massage and your therapist will only uncover the area of your body being worked on.
-
During your massage: It’s all about you. Communication is key to receiving the most effective treatment for achieving your relaxation and wellness goals. The pressure of the strokes will be checked during the session for your comfort. Natural waxes are used on the skin during massage.
-
After your massage: When your massage is complete, your therapist will leave the room. She will recommend that you drink some water, left in a glass on the small table in the room. Your therapist will wait in the reception area while you dress. When you’re ready, come out to the reception or your therapist may recommend that you wait for her to knock and return to do some re-assessment tests if applicable. Your therapist will check in with you about how you feel and will give you some recommended self-care ideas e.g. stretching and will discuss bookings for further treatments. Please feel free to ask any questions at any time about any of the procedures. We want you to feel as relaxed and comfortable with the session as possible.
-
Feedback: We always appreciate any feedback that you can give us. If you have a moment, we would love you to write a brief review.
To get the most out of your massage:
- Be on time
- Be an active participant in the session
- Ask questions of your therapist
- Make your wishes known
- Let the therapist know if you are uncomfortable at any time.
- It is recommended that you drink plenty of water before and after a massage, particularly if you have a Lithos treatment (which is a deeper treatment using heated rocks). This helps flush out from the muscles any accumulated materials released during the massage and rehydrates the body.
Above all, enjoy your massage!
We look forward to welcoming you for your first visit.
